First Annual 2021 Holland Roundup Revival

View of Illinois Valley from Course

The first annual Holland Roundup Revival was an amazing success! In one of the only sunny days in a mostly rainy October, we had dozens of runners and hundreds of audience members attend the event. First, a couple dozen runners competed on the 11-mile woods run. We had a huge range, from very experienced runners who finished in just under an hour, to local families who jogged together and finished in under four hours. The experienced runners said it was the most grueling 11 miles they’d ever run, and all the runners said it was a beautiful and well-laid out course.

A diverse crowd assembled for the first ever Epic Fun Endurance Run at the Roundup. Families and joggers ran with trained, experienced runners, with finish times ranging from just over one hour, up to about 4 hours. We were proud of our course through our lovely hills when the experienced runners reported that it was the most grueling 11-mile race they’d ever run!

Runners gathered before the race
Phil Reed took first place with a time of 1:09. He took home the overall winner cash prize of $350
Fuego, age 10, was our youngest finisher, with a time of 1:52. He took home the $150 prize for the youth 18 and under division.
The whole relay team was delighted to finish the race!
So many local businesses donated raffle prizes that more than half of the runners received a prize! The prizes were:

Cabin Chemistry – holistic pain relief for runners pack

Talking Woods – “Born to Run” gift set

Coffee Heaven – 2 lbs whole bean coffee

Bear Images – decorative gift box

“The I Saw Bigfoot Shop” on Etsy – Sasquatch gift

The Sasquatch Woods People would like to thank all of the donors!

Music in the Parking lot

After the run, the crowds gathered at the Holland Store for the music show. Three bands entertained the crowds for the whole afternoon! The first band to take the stage was our own local White Oak Wood, who even played an original song they wrote just for the Roundup event!

Next up was Jason Dae West, of Williams, with his high-energy one-man-band performance of original songs.

Finally the Brother’s Reed, from Medford, got the audience dancing with their high-energy brotherly folk tunes!

Bobbalou’s served burger after fabulous burger, and Siano’s Karibbean Kitchen from Medford served plates of Caribbean meals. The excellent espresso and coffee beverages were provided by Big Shotz.

The community day at the Holland Store is part of a 100-year-old tradition! The neighborhood has gathered at the Store for the Holland Roundup, at least back to 1913.
