The run course is just over 11 miles, with a variety of road types.
The race begins at the Holland Store, heading south on Kendall Road. Kendall Road is paved and is usually used by vehicles, but will be closed to vehicle traffic for the start of the race. Kendall Road is level with no elevation change.
After 0.4 miles on Kendall, the road makes a “Y”. The course takes the left fork of the “Y”, onto Althouse Creek Road, which is also paved. After a small amount of additional level roadway, Althouse Creek Road begins a gentle climb, starting at 1560 feet and ending at 1820 feet. Althouse Creek Road will not be closed to vehicle traffic, but it is not heavily used, and runners may or may not encounter a vehicle to share the road with. After 1 mile on Althouse Creek Road, the course takes a left onto Tartar Gulch Road.
Tartar Gulch Road is a broad gravel road that heads east. After a very steep but very short climb right when you get onto the road, it becomes almost level, with a slight climb to 2050 feet over 1.3 miles. Runners may share the road with a vehicle while on Tartar Gulch. At 1.3 miles, the course makes a left onto BLM Road 40-7-10.
40-7-10 is another broad gravel road, but it is steeper, climbing to 2300 feet over about 1.3 miles, heading mostly to the north. There are also some small downhill sections on 40-7-10. 40-7-10 will not be closed to vehicles, but it is not likely to see a vehicle on this road. After 1.3 miles on 40-7-10, the course leaves the road, turning left to run through private property.
The first 0.5 miles are to the north, with a steep descent down to 19200 feet on a rocky, gullied narrow road. The road then turns east, and resumes an uphill climb, for one mile, on gravel road with a somewhat better surface, up to 2450 feet. There will be no vehicles on these private property roads.
At that point the course leaves the private property and heads back onto another broad gravel BLM road, 39-7-35. The course stays on this road for 3.5 miles. Most of the first mile on 39-7-35 is level, and then the descent begins, dropping to 1600 feet by the time the road winds it’s way out of the hills. The road tends to the west and north. This road will not be closed to vehicles but is also not often used by vehicles. After 3.5 miles on 39-7-35, the road becomes paved again, and is now called Robinson Corner Road.
Robinson Corner is paved and level, and due west. Robinson Corner road will not be closed to vehicle traffic; runners may or may not happen to share the road with a vehicle. After 0.8 miles on Robinson Corner Road, the course takes a left onto the Holland Loop road.
The course runs along the Holland Loop Road for 1.5 miles, all level, before returning to the finish line at the Holland Store. There will probably be vehicles on the Holland Loop during the race. Runners are to stay on the wide shoulder of the road, which is graveled and flat.
